The Nutrient Dynamics of Major and Minor Nutrients on Pelleted and Unpelleted Dry Fodders

Background: Farmers are facing the challenges to providing adequate availability of feed and fodders livestock during dry period (lean period) which poses a major threat in productivity. This study delineates, pelleting fodder helps meet out requirement lean consequently improving Methods: The experiment was conducted at Forage Pelleting Unit, Department Crops Agricultural College Research Institute, Tamil Nadu University, Coimbatore, from March 2020 June 2022 identify best suitable crops for quality pellets production. laboratory laid completely randomized block design with 11 treatments three replications. treatment consists D1: Rice straw, D2: Maize stover, D3: husk, D4: Sorghum D5: Ragi D6: Pearl millet D7: Wheat D8: Groundnut haulms, D9: shells, D10: Sugarcane tops, D11: Blackgram husk were selected produced into individual pellets. Then, harvested help harvester cum chaffer. chaffed material then dried using solar drier 70°C one day attaining ideal moisture 12%. materials grinded by pulverizer grinding conveyed through conditioning passing steam 60 70°C. passes pelletizer 6 mm die diameter. Result: observation on macro minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium) micro (cobalt, zinc, manganese) analyzed an Inductive Coupled Plasma Mass Emission Spectroscopy. unpelleted pelleted showed significant variation minor nutrients. In this regards, calcium content recorded higher groundnut haulms (D8) 1.027 per cent whereas ragi straw (D5) magnesium potassium contents 0.433 2.178 respectively. nutrients like cobalt, manganese zinc varied significantly due process. From study, rice (D1) cobalt 0.378 whereas, (16.45 cent) while, registered pearl (D6) 54.88 cent.
